Job Description of the Regional Director of Referee Assessment for Region 56

The AYSO volunteer position of regional director of referee assessment is intended to implement, monitor, and maintain the AYSO certification and assessment program at the regional level.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
The regional director of referee assessment is expected to:
Support the AYSO National Referee Program in both specifics and spirit;
Administer the AYSO National Referee Certification Program within the region;
Develop a staff of referee advisors and assessors in the region;
Maintain a list of certified referees in the region;
Arrange observations and assessments for the referees in the region who are seeking improvement and upgrade to a higher certification level;
Establish an ongoing referee Advisor Program to provide for mentoring of new referees by experienced referees; and
Gather and disseminate information as requested by the regional referee administrator and the area and section referee staff.
Qualifications and Desired Skills
To be considered for the position of regional director of referee assessment, the applicant must:
Successfully pass a screening, including a background check;
Annually submit a Volunteer Application Form and be approved as a volunteer in an AYSO region;
Be an intermediate referee or higher;
Be an AYSO advisor or assessor;
Have experience as an advisor or assessor in the AYSO National Referee Certification Program;
Demonstrate interest in promoting the benefits of participating in the AYSO National Referee Certification Program;
Be proficient in communication and recognizing interpersonal skills; and
Demonstrate an unswerving commitment to the AYSO philosophy.
